CEE Student Associations

There are several student chapters of civil engineering and other associations that some of our students organize, participate in and manage. These associations sponsor competitions, raise funds, organize networking and social events, encourage minority participation in engineering and plan conferences of interest to our students. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

The ASCE Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) helps you master the civil engineering skills that you need to enter the profession by participating in events within U.Va. and with other university chapters. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 140,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide and is America’s oldest national engineering society. Its mission is to provide essential value to our members and partners, advance civil engineering, and serve the public good by advancing technology, encouraging lifelong learning, promoting professionalism and the profession, developing civil engineer leaders , and advocating infrastructure and environmental stewardship.

Chi Epsilon

This civil engineers honor society is dedicated to the purpose of maintaining and promoting the status of civil engineering as an ideal profession.

GEMS

This is a service organization at U.Va. dedicated to improving girls’ interest in engineering and science.

National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

This is the largest student run organization in the nation, having over 10,000 members nationwide. The mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Society of Women Engineers

This is a professional organization with the purpose of aiding and promoting women in engineering and encouraging your women to consider pursuing an engineering education.
